The Bible is the greatest book of all time. It tells a story from beginning to end, but unlike any other book you might read, the Bible is so much more than information or a good story. The Bible is literally the Word of God which is alive and powerful. The Bible is the only book in existence that has the power to change our lives.
The problem is that for most of us, the Bible can be hard to read and understand. So at the beginning of this year, Pastor Jody started a new sermon series called The Story where he will be introducing us to a different book of the Bible each week. We want to challenge everyone in our church to read the book of the Bible for that week’s message using an easy-to-read translation. We will also have helpful videos and other resources below and on our social media that can help you get the most out of your Bible reading.
2021 is going to be a life-changing year as we learn more about The Story.
Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend”. We are also encouraging everyone in the church to find a couple of people to meet with weekly to talk about the book of the Bible we are reading that week. As we read and talk about the Word of God together, we are sharpening one another which causes us to grow in our relationship with God and our relationships with one another. That growth is what brings hope and healing, so these small groups will be called “Hope Sites”.
If you already have a couple of friends that you can meet with each week, that is great. Find a time and place to get together and discuss what you have been reading. If you haven’t found anyone to meet with yet, we have several small groups that will be meeting weekly to talk about the book of the Bible for that week.
Based on social distancing recommendations, we know that not everyone will feel comfortable getting together in a group right now, but meeting in person is not the only way to connect. There are lots of options for ways to meet online these days. We have some Hope Sites that meet in person, some that meet online, and some that do both. We would be happy to help you get connected with a group.
Whether your Hope Site has 2 people or 10 people and whether you meet in person or online, we can all help each other grow through the Word of God. We want 2021 to be a year of hope and healing, so join us in a Hope Site as we grow together, experiencing the hope and healing that comes only in Jesus Christ our “One Hope for Every Heart”.
